Commerce City has two sides. The older neighborhoods near 64th Avenue and the industrial corridor along Brighton Boulevard have homes from the 1950s through 1980s with aging sewer lines, galvanized plumbing, and basements that were never waterproofed to modern standards. Sewer backups and pipe failures are common calls from this part of town. The proximity to industrial areas also means drainage patterns can push water where homeowners do not expect it.

Then there is the Reunion side. Thousands of newer homes built in the last 15 years, sitting on open plains northeast of the city.
